Role of WHO in COVID 19 pandemic
WHO AND COVID 19
WHO stands for World Health
Organization. WHO was established after world war 2 with the vote of 51
countries of the United Nations. Before WHO there were so many health
organizations but after world war 2 all organizations merged into WHO. WHO has
eradicated so many viral diseases from the world and the top of them is Small
Pox. WHO has consultants and workers in almost all countries of the world.
The basic goals of WHO are to promote
health across the whole world and keep it safe and sound. WHO has a great
history of helping mankind from dangerous and fatal diseases. WHO has a very
prominent role in developing vaccines against viral diseases such as, Small
Pox, Measles, Polio. (Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent
diseases).WHO has almost eradicated these diseases from the world.
WHO has a great history in helping
mankind against viral diseases and their epidemics and pandemics such as Swine
Flu, Ebola virus. We are facing a similar situation these days in the shape of
COVID 19!
COVID 19 is a viral infection and it has
spread almost in the whole world. It causes pulmonary distress syndrome. It has
the same symptoms as pneumonia-like high fever, cough, body pain. This virus
originated from Chinese city Wuhan in December 2019 and now it has taken the
shape of a pandemic by spreading all over the world, infecting millions of
peoples. Its mode of transmission is humans like, it spreads by body
contacts.
WHO played a part in letting the world
know about this virus at the very beginning of it. Some countries followed the
precautions and have completely gotten rid of Corona but some didn't and now
those countries are having a massive outbreak.
The current COVID 19 pandemic is
unprecedented, but the global response draws on the lessons learned from other
diseases outbreaks over the past several decades.
WHO is playing a great role in
developing vaccines and therapeutics for this novel corona virus. WHO arranged
the meeting for world scientists to share the knowledge of this virus. In this
meeting, it was being decided that acceleration of research to help contain the
spread of the epidemic and support research priorities that contribute to
global research platforms in hopes of learning from the current pandemic
response and for better prepare for the next unseen epidemic. here a video link if given to avoid yourself from this pandemic.
There are 100
plus vaccines which are being prepared in the world right now for this novel corona virus, but all these vaccines are still in the trial and yet to be proved
effective against this COVID 19. It will almost take 12 to 18 months for
effective vaccine manufacturing and its distribution all over the world!
